How do you change master code on actual garage opener not the remote.

My son lost our small remote opener in neighborhood. I don't want someone to be able to just walk with it to find the right house. I was told that there is a way to change the signal on the actual opener itself.

First have all the remotes with you.

On the motor you will find a colored button, red, purple, green maybe, push and hold this button until it goes out. You have erased the old code sequence. Now press the same button once and then the button on the remote, the light bulb should flash. Do this to all the remotes. If you have a keyless push the button and within 30 seconds input the 4 digit code and press the up/down button, the light bulb should flash.

If you have a genie brand it is different and you need to specify that. Thanks

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
