Craftsman Rotary Lawn Mower 550 Series Briggs & Stratton Engine 22" Side Discharge. Stalled in high grass. Want to clean before restarting. Turned on side to clean, but then saw gas leaking down into the engine. Should I just let it cool and tighten the gas cap and then turn on side again. Is it ok to restart after gas leaked into engine area?
Letting it cool before turning it on its side is a must. Gas is going to leak because the cap is vented. In most cases you should be okay with the gas leaking like that, just be aware that it's happening. You can remove the cap and put some plastic (like a bread bag) over the take spout then screw the cap back down and that will prevent the leaking or lessen it by a lot.
