How do I replace the worm and gear on my garage door opener?
The ring gear teeth are worn off. Should we replace the worm gear with the ring gear? Should the tension on the chain drive be removed. Is it best to take the opener down so it can be worked on in the floor? Model: 139.53677srt3

For this type of repair I'd recommend you have a technician come out to make the repair. It's not that it's an overly hard job, but it can get out of hand rather quickly if you aren't careful.
