How do I change the code on my Craftsman 1/2 HP garage door opener after I sold a car with the built-in remote?

I sold a car with the garage door remote in the visor and it could open the door. How do I change the code so that the car can't open the door?

I recommend erasing all of the codes and then reprogramming all of the current remotes, wall controls and keyless keypads. This will disable the remote in the car that you sold.

Erasing all remotes normally requires pressing and holding the LEARN or SRT button until the LED turns off (about 6 deliberate seconds). You can verify that all remotes are erased by trying your current remotes after erasing all remotes. This will verify that all codes were properly erased.

Follow the directions in your owner's manual to reprogram your current remotes.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
