I purchased a Craftsman universal receiver (#53757) and was assured it would work with my "Overhead Garage door opener" model 456. However, I connected the wires to the only place on the opener I can find which is the wall button screw and the common screw on the back side of the opener. I went through the programming steps and the opener does not work. Is the opener (new in 1995) too old to work with this receiver? I can not program my black button Craftsman remotes to work with this receiver. If it works, do I have it connected wrong? I need some help here, I do not want to return this part.
The universal receiver should operate your garage door opener fine. The wires from the receiver connect to the same 2 terminals on the opener that the wire from your old wall button connected to.
You must remove the wires from the original wall switch when installing the universal receiver. The new universal receiver and the original switch might not work together.I can not get the model number you sent to run in our systems so I can't find any information on your universal receiver. If you have further questions, send another email and include the correct model of the universal receiver.Member
