How to I prevent the garage door trolley from hitting the stop bolt when it opens?

When my Craftsman garage door opens up, it goes all the way up until the trolley hit the safety pin. I have compared with the other garage door opener I have, and it stops on the way up 1/2 inch before the trolley hits the safety screw/bolt. Do you know what I need to do to limit the movement of the door (model 139.53650SRT Craftsman) Thanks

You will need to decrease the up limit adjustment screw. (See instructions in the image I added below) The adjustment screw is located on the left side of the opener towards the rear as shown in the image I added below. Turn it counterclockwise (CCW) one turn. One turn of the adjustment screw equals about 2" of door travel.

Do you still think it a limit adj if the door is half way up when it jams?

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
