Why won't my Craftsman garage door opener memorize all of my remotes?

I have a Craftsman garage door opener model number 139.53664SRT1. The serial number is 44473C00939. I attempted to add a remote to my opener as per the instructions in the manual after one of the oldest remotes I have stopped working. I erased all the codes. The remotes I have are dated from 1997, 1999, and 2009. The unit would either memorize the oldest remote and no others or both of the newer units and not the oldest. I have taken the controller board out of the opener and blew the dust out, reassembled the unit. I cleared the memory again and attempted the remote learning again with the same results. We also had a power outage yesterday. The remote I replaced had been giving me troubles prior to the outage.

You may need to change the batteries in all of the remotes. With new batteries in all of the remotes, check to see if you can properly program them. The image below shows the instructions for programming the remotes. You may need to use the Learn button on the motor unit to program the remotes.

Make sure all of the remotes are compatible. I believe that your model uses remotes with the blue button.

If these tips don't help, you may have a logic board problem.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
