Why won't my garage door open all the way at times?
I have a Craftsman 3/4 HP garage door opener model 139.53990D and it does not open all the way at times. When it doesn't open, if I push button again it starts going down then if I punch it quickly it will go up all the way. Sometimes it will open all the way. Happens randomly.

First, make sure the door is not binding as it goes up. Pull the emergency release rope when the door is fully shut and then manually raise the door. If the door seems to be extremely heavy or the door binds I recommend calling a garage door repairman. If the door is balanced and it does not require a lot of effort or bind while raising it likely needs a minor up force adjustment. See image below for the up force adjustment procedure. The adjustment procedure is also in the user’s manual.
