Why does my garage door stop and reverse at times when it is going down and when it hits the floor?

When I try to close my garage door, it opens again - sometimes takes 5-6 times to get it closed. It seems to happen more so when it's cold than warm. The electric ankles are lined up properly. Is there anyway to fix this? Sometimes it reaches the ground completely and then reopens again.

You did not submit the model number of your garage door opener so I will only be able to provide general information only.

If you’re indicating that the door closes completely and hits the floor and then opens again would indicate the down travel limit needs to be adjusted for less down travel. If the door is traveling downwards and it stops and reverses before reaching the floor would indicate the down force needs to be adjusted for more down force.

I recommend opening the door and pull the emergency release lanyard and manually lower and raise the door to confirm that it's not binding or sticking. If the door binds it can cause the door to stop and reverse back open.

Resubmit your question with the model number for model specific information if needed.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
