How do I get rid of snails which are all over my yard without using chemicals dangerous to my dogs?

I have those striped snails all over my yard. They are just everywhere and they eat on the shrubs and things that are in my yard. I don't want to poison the yard because I have dogs that have to stay there and don't want to put them at risk.

First I'd like to apologize for my tardy answer. Your question got misdirected and just now ended up in the correct place. Usually the questions are answered within two days and not 3 months.

If you still need an answer then there are a couple of ways to control snails and slugs in your yard without chemicals that would be dangerous to your dogs.

A small bowl with stale beer will attract the snails. Stale beer attracts the slugs and they drown. You may also use grape juice or a tea made from yeast, honey and water.

If you walk around the yard with a salt shaker in hand you can eliminate all the snails you find.

To protect specific plants you can try to spread lime, crushed egg shells or cedar bark around the plant.

Oat bran can be spread around the yard to kill the snails and slugs.

One other thing to try is to take a 2 liter soda bottle and cut it in half. Reverse the top half of the bottle and mount it to the bottom part and secure it with duct tape. It will be like a funnel that will allow the snails to enter but not escape. Put some bait in the bottom of the bottle and this will draw the snail in and they will be trapped until they die or you dispose of the bottle.

Sorry out answer was tardy but if other problems come up around the house then submit another question with any additional details for assistance. The questions are usually answered within two days.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
