I have a Craftsman garage opener 139.53606. It only moves 6 in. after fixing the gear and rpm board. What else do I need to do?

It is a Craftsman model 139.53606 garage door opener. I replaced the gear which moves the door. Now, the door only goes 6 inches and reverses. There are no flashing lights. I checked the limits and forces, and replaced the RPM sensor. I am really trying to preserve this opener, as it is compatible with my other 2 and all can open on the same remote.

Some things you should check are, does the door open and close easily manually, do you have the limit switch synchronized with the trolley on the opener?

When you removed the worm gear you removed the small gear that drives the up and down limit switch. In the process of the repair the limit switch and the position of the trolley might have gotten out of synchronization.

You need to open or close the door and remove this small gear again. Manually turn the limit switch so the center contact almost touches the up or down contact to match the location of the trolley. Install the drive gear and adjust the up and down limits properly.

If you have more questions send another email and include the results of these tests. We will be glad to help.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
