How do I get my older garage door opener to recognize new remote?

I Can't find the manual for my older garage opener (Craftsman 41A5021-2F). The manage my home site no longer has the manual online. My old remote just died, and I need to know how to get the opener to recognize new remotes (the ones built into my cars, actually). Thanks for your help!

The model number you sent is actually the part number for the logic board in your garage door opener. The model number is on a tag on the motor unit of the garage door opener. You might have to remove the light cover to see it.

The part number of the logic board tells me your garage door opener is a security plus, rolling code opener. The remotes in your cars should be compatible with it.

Erase all the codes from the memory of the logic board by holding the learn button in until the led goes off (about 6 seconds). This will clear the memory and make room for the new codes. The memory of the logic board will store 4-6 codes. When the memory is full, the logic board will not accept any more codes.

You can download or print the owners manual for the opener by going to [www.managemylife.com]. Enter the information with the correct model number and you can pull up the owners manual.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
