The resident before me bought this Craftsman Half Horsepower garage door opener. It has a doorbell switch installed on the wall inside the garage. This works fine if you punch it once to open, or hold it down the whole time to close. The sensor light on the passenger side at bottom of door is green. Driver side is flashing red. Main problem is that the remote doesn't work. I changed the battery. It still doesn't work. The unit was manufactured in 1998. See photos.
The flashing led on the door sensor means the door safety sensors are misaligned. Loosen the mounting screws on the sensor with the red led and move the sensor until the light glows steadily.
You should not have to hold the wall control button in to close the door. Holding the button in overrides the safety of the door sensors. When you get the door sensors aligned, the remotes will work and you can close the door by pressing the wall switch one time. The door sensor with the green led sends an infra red beam to the sensor with the red led. If the infra red beam is interrupted the garage door opener won't close. Align the door sensors so the sensor with the red led is receiving the complete infra red beam and the garage door opener will work normally.Member
