My Garage Door Opener model 139-53637SRT doesn't open or close more than a couple of inches. Why does the green led flash 5 times?

The green light flashes 5 times. The force adjustment doesn't solve the problem. There is nothing in the owner's manual about the light. I just replaced the gears.

Thanks for including the note about replacing the gears.

I am sending you an image that shows what the led flashing means.

Normally the 5 flashes is a fault in the rpm sensor. Be sure the black interrupter cup is pushed all the way on the motor shaft and the rpm sensor is connected properly to the wire harness. If there is no problem with the interrupter cup or the connection, replace the rpm sensor.

I am sending you the following information because it is frequently a problem after the gears have been replaced.

When you removed the worm gear you removed the small gear that drives the up and down limit switch. In the process of the repair the limit switch and the position of the trolley might have gotten out of synchronization.

You need to open or close the door and remove this small gear again. Manually turn the limit switch so the center contact almost touches the up or down contact to match the location of the trolley. Install the drive gear and adjust the up and down limits properly.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
