Have 1/2 horsepower Craftsman garage door opener. Why is it reopening after it goes all the way down?
It is a model either 139.53960SRT or ..70,71,73 (on owners manual). The garage door is reopening after it completely closes. When I watch, it looks like the opener is going farther than it needs to. The chain looks not as tight in the closed position as the garage door opener next to it. I have made no recent adjustments to the opener. Can you tell us what to try to rectify the situation? Thanks!

Sometimes the up and down travel adjustments will change. It sounds like the door is closing too far, as you said. I am sending you an image from the owners manual showing the up and down travel adjustments. You need to adjust it so the garage door opener turns off just as the bottom of the door touches the floor.
