I have a garage door opener model 139.53600. It shorted out, a wire hit the casing. Do I replace the computer board?

I have a garage door opener, Sears Craftsman model 139.53600 chain drive. I opened one side and accidentally touched the live wire of the light bulb to the metal casing. The unit sparked and shut off but did not blow wall plug. Do I just replace the computer board or more serious? Thanks for reply.

The short probably ruined the logic board in the opener. It uses DC voltage to send commands to the different parts and uses the case as a ground. I am sure it is fried.

The short should not have damaged anything else.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
