The door was in a bind due to settling. The chain came off. I got the chain back on, but now the door will not open all the way up. How do I reset the limits so that it will go all the way up and will stop at the proper place when closing?
Unplug the garage door opener and remove the outer cover of the motor unit. Remove the clip that holds it on and remove the small gear that drives the limit switch. Move the door and the trolley to either the open or closed position.
Rotate the gear on the limit switch by hand so the center contact of the limit switch is in the same position as the door and trolley. When the center contact touches the up or down contact the board turns the motor off. This should correct your problem.Member
