I just replaced the worm /drive gears. The door over drives down and buckles the rail. It wont go up.

The door starts back up after closing for a second or two. I can dial that out. But the door will not open but rather after hitting button to open it , the opener (already closed) drives down (the chain drives to close the already closed door) and buckles the rail then stops and reverses to unbuckle the rail.

When you removed the worm gear you removed the small gear that drives the up and down limit switch. In the process of the repair the limit switch and the position of the trolley got out of synchronization.

You need to open the door and remove this gear again. Manually turn the limit switch so the center contact almost touches the up contact. Install the drive gear and adjust the up and down limits properly.

You can make this correction with the door down if it won't open. Turn the limit switch gear until the center contact touches the down contact.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
