I held in the learn button on my garage door opener, but the LED did not go out. How do I erase the old codes from the memory?

I tried your suggestion about holding in the learn button until the LED goes out so that the old codes would be erased. I held the button in for over 4 minutes and the LED would not go out. How do I erase the old codes so that the neighbor does not open/close my garage door when they open/close their garage door? We have changed the codes numerous times but somehow, our opener still remembers the neighbors code. The model is 139.53513 but with a new logic board that does not have switches; just a learn button. Please help. We don't want to replace the entire system.

There are two possible causes for this problem. One is that you have a strong RF signal in the area that is confusing the logic board and it won't erase the codes. The other is that if you have a white learn button and a red LED on the logic board, It doesn't erase the codes. If this is the case I apologize for not thinking of this when I answered your previous question.

For the white learn button and red LED just change the position of some of the dip switches in your remote. I am sure you know that if you have more than one remote all the dip switches have to be in the same position. When you change the position of the dip switches you change the code as you know. Program the remote and operate the door. Do this four times and you will have cleared the memory of any old remotes. The logic board drops the oldest code when it's memory is full and you add another code. Four codes will fill the memory.

I hope this helps. I am sending you some suggestions for locating the source of a RF signal.

Look on the motor unit to see if the LED is flashing. If it is flashing your garage door opener is receiving a strong rf signal. This signal can be coming from something in your garage or house or from somewhere in the neighborhood.

Remove the batteries from your remotes and keyless entry and see if the flashing stops. Is there an old remote stored somewhere? If there is remove the battery from it.

If you don't find the source here, start turning off circuit breakers for the house. Watch the led as you turn the breakers off so you know if it stops blinking which circuit the source is on.

If you don't find the source of the rf you can schedule service and get a Sears technician to check the garage door opener. Sears technicians have an rf signal locater to find the source of the rf.

The flashing LED might only occur when the door is opening by itself.

I believe I have the same exact problem. Did this work for you, or did you find another way to solve this problem? I just tried this and am waiting for results. I read another post which said that you should have your neighbor unplug their opener, then you reprogram yours, then you plug your back in, then your neighbor reprograms theirs. My unit is a Craftsman 139.53615SR (PCB 41A3493-1), my neighbor uses a Genie Intellicode. I'm thinking about buying a intellicode conversion kit if I can't get this to work.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
