Have existing concrete walkway with flower beds on both sides. Want to fill in both sides with concrete to utilize space at entryway to home for a sitting area

To create a concrete patio on each side of the walkway, dig the flower beds down about 8-12 inches below the top of the walkway. Build temporary wooden forms around the perimeter using 2x8 boards, with stakes pounded into the soil every 3 feet around the outside edges for support. Level the soil base and tamp it (use a rented power tamper), then add 3-4 inches of gravel. Mix concrete (or better yet, have it delivered), and fill up the forms. Texturize as desired and let the concrete cure!

I'm not sure how old your original sidewalk is or if you are worried a patch work effect from the concret. But have you thought about patio pavers? This might give you a desirable contrast and still achieve your new patio.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
