Why won't my GDO close?

It is a Craftsman model 13953973srt. When full open it moves about 1 ft then returns with or without the door connected. The light does not blink, the limit switch is adjusted properly, force adjustments have no effect, all troubleshooting steps taken. Could it be the logic board-capacitor-RPM sensor or a combo?

If the capacitor were bad, the motor would not run. Any problem can be caused by the logic board. When the door moves and stops and no lights blink it is usually a bad rpm sensor.

Hold the button on the wall control in and see if the door will close. If it closes this way the problem is in the door sensor circuit. If it still stops, replace the rpm sensor.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
