My garage door will not open with the remote controls though the sensor light is receiving a signal.
It is a 1/2 hp model 139.53970SRT. The wall mount has no problem opening or shutting but the built in controls on both of our vehicles will not open or close the door. We would like to be able to fix it ourselves if you have any suggestions where we could start please let us know.

Before programming any remote always erase the codes from the memory of the logic board by holding the "learn" button on the motor unit in until the led goes off. All remotes will have to be reprogrammed after erasing the codes.
I am sending you an image that shows the programming of the remotes. Note that you must press the button on the remote within 30 seconds after you press the "learn" button on the motor unit. I assume your remotes have worked with the garage door opener in the past. If you can't get the remotes programmed using this method, replace the batteries in the remotes.
