You mentioned planing concrete floors, what tool do I use for this

I have an old garage that has been converted to living space. However the concrete is not level. In looking at your answers, I noticed you recommended planing the concrete high spots. How do I do this? I'm not sure of the surface treatment after the concrete is level, but I would like to start with a level surface. I notice that there is a particular high spot, that I would like to see lower. Therefore The question is how do I get it lower???

To level a concrete floor, it is usually achieved by using a concrete grinder to remove the high spots. Sometimes a leveling compound is used afterwards to help fill in any low areas. A concrete grinder uses different grind wheels so that a fairly smooth finish can be achieved once the initial bulk of material is removed. You should be able to rent one at a local tool rental store - they are about the size of a vacuum cleaner.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
