Why does my LiftMaster garage door opener now only open about 2ft after I replaced a worn out gear assembly?

It is a LiftMaster model 1155LM. I replaced part number 041C4220A, Gear & Sprocket Assembly. I replaced this part since the gear and sprocket had been stripped. But now that the replacement is in there I can't get the door to cycle more than 2 feet no matter how I adjust it with either the limits or the force adjustments. What am I missing?

The door and the position of the limit switch are not synchronized.

Close the door as far as you can. The limit switch is driven by a small gear that is turned by a gear on the shaft that turns sprocket. Remove the clip that holds that gear and turn the gear on the limit switch until the limit switch moves into the closed position. The screws that adjust your up and down travel adjust the limit switch position.

I am sending you an image of the limit switch on the opener.

Actually it ended up being the sensor located up next to the gear drive. I took the crown looking part off the drive, realligned it and then it worked. But now it appears to be extremely sensitive meaning that if there is like a fleck of snow inside the rails the door stops. How do I change the sensitivity of the garage door and the safety feature on the door?

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
