The garage (detached) sits directly on a concrete slab, and the floor slopes so that melting snow from my car "drains" right to the side wall, instead of out the garage door. Aside from putting in a new drain or re doing the floor, is there a quick easy fix, like just a 2" concrete lip I could pour myself? I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks.
If you try to pour a concrete lip, it will likely end up cracking quite easily, and won't bond well to the existing floor. And if water just drains towards the lip, the lip won't necessarily get the water out of the garage as you would like. You could try cutting a drainage channel into the concrete - concrete can be cut quite easily with a regular circular saw, you'll just need to get a proper blade for that. (Ensure you wear a respirator and goggles as well). Cut a small "V" groove out of the floor by making two 15 degree cuts. Start shallow, perhaps a 1/4" deep. The groove doesn't need to be very wide - 1/4" wide should do. You may need to work towards the garage door and increase the depth of the groove every few feet, to ensure the water drains properly.
