I purchased a garage door opener in 1996 and the chain no longer moves. Should I replace or repair it?
This is a Sears Craftsman Garage Door Opener one of a couple model numbers beginning with 139.53345SRT1 and going through 139.53834SRT1. Should I replace the opener or have it repaired?

I would recommend you replace the garage door opener. The repair will probably equal the price of a new opener. At this age, any repair is likely to be followed with more failures.
