My garage door won't close. I have to manually hold down the button until door reaches bottom. Automatic opener will not close it easier.
Without a model number or any details on what the garage door opener is doing I can only give you some general information about the garage door opener.
Most garage door openers have safety sensors mounted to the rails near the floor at the door opening. These sensors will stop the door from closing if they are blocked or out of alignment. If the sensor with the amber or red led on it is blinking when you press the button to close the door, it is either blocked, out of alignment, or defective. If both sensor led's are not lit, the sensors are defective or the wire to the sensors is broken or shorted. If you need further assistance, send another email and include the model number of the garage door opener (it is on the motor unit and starts with 139), and some details of what the sensor led's are doing. Look at the led on the motor unit also and see if it is blinking a code.Member
