I have a Craftsman garage door opener. Recently, the door has only been going up 3/4 of the way. It has been stopping at the same point. I lubed the chain and the wheels and have tightened the tracks hanging from the garage. Any tips to correct?
Close the door and pull the release rope on the trolley to release the door. Manually lift the door and see if it binds when it gets to the place where it stops. If it does you need to repair the door.
If the door opens and closes freely, you need to adjust the up travel on the garage door opener. The adjusting screws are on the motor unit and are marked. Don't adjust the up force, just the travel. Turn the up travel screw 2 turns and connect the door to the trolley. Let the opener open the door and see if it goes farther. If it does go farther, adjust the up travel until the door is fully opening. If the up travel doesn't change anything, disconnect the power to the opener and remove the outer cover of the motor unit. The travel limit switch is the part the screw from the up travel adjustment attaches to. The travel limit switch needs to be replaced.Member
