I have two outdoor, motion flood lights both attached to single pole switches. I have no doubt that sometimes my wife accidentally throws the switch even though I tell her it just needs to stay in the ON position all the time. Occasionally the light will stay on continuously. Is this because turning it off and on is disabling the motion sensor? How do I reset this when it happen? The housing of the light is really high up.
Most flood lights are designed so that you can override them by turning the switch on and off. Fortunately, they can usually be reset easily - most of them ask for the light switch to be turned off for 60 seconds, then flip it back on. Usually the light will come on again right away, but it should be back in it's normal mode and is just running through the light timer. Leave it and it should go off by itself after it's usual "light" period (often 30 seconds, 1, 2, or 5 minutes).
