My 13953637SRT garage door opener would intermittently lose power and stop operating. What can cause this?

The light would be turned off when the power is lost whether the garage door is being opened or closed. Furthermore, the LED would blink five times in continuous cycles. I have to wait for at least 15 minutes in order for the garage door to operate again. While the power is lost, pressing both the wall unit and remote control would result in loud clicks but nothing happens. From my research one of the followings is the cause of the problem: 1. logic board 2. RPM sensor 3. Capacitor. How do I know which is the culprit? Hate to order a new board and find out that its not the cause of the problem.

Because the garage door opener works after it cools down I think your motor is tripping the internal overload. With the door down pull the trolley release rope and open the door by hand. Motors very seldom fail, so I suspect your door is very hard to move.

If the door moves easily and will stay at the halfway position when you open it the door and hardware is ok. If not you might need some repair on the door or hardware.

Someone needs to check the voltage at the plug with the motor running. Low voltage will cause the motor to overheat also. If it does this after 5-6 rapid openings in warm to hot weather, it is performing normally.

I am sending you an explanation sheet for the error flashes on your garage door opener. Their suggestion is the logic board instead of the motor as motor seldom fail.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
