How do I reprogram my remote keyless pad?

I have a Craftsman garage door opener keyless entry model number 139.53684. I can’t find a manual on web site. I need to find out how to reprogram my remote pad. All the light does is flash when I try to put in the new code. I tried putting in my old code and still have the same problem. This is according to the instructions on the cover. I don’t know if it is a bad unit, it was purchased around 2000. I even installed a new battery.

On your motor housing of your garage door opener, there is a LED button. This button is referred to as a learn button.

The learn button must be pressed before entering the code on the keyless pad. I suggest you have an assistant to program the code within the 30 seconds allotted.

I have included an image below to assist you with the reprogramming of your Craftsman keyless entry.

I used the following steps: 1. Press and release the 'Learn' button on the receiver. The small led will light up and you will have 30 seconds to complete the remaining steps. 2. Type any 4 digits into the keypad. 3. Press and Hold the Enter button until the light bulb on the receiver flashes.

exactly how long does it take about for the light bulb to flash? I've held the enter button on the keyless pad for 30+ seconds. I've done this before on other units - it didn't take 5 seconds for the code to be learned.

I have the instructions. I even tried unplugging the motor unit on the ceiling for 30 seconds. Nothing......what about if I "unlearned" all codes & then retried. Only I'm afraid then the remotes won't work either. Very frustration!

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
