I have a Sears garage door opener that has suddenly stopped operating when using the remotes.
It is a model 139.53413 Serial 2982N01952, by Sears. When you open the door by the button inside the garage it works fine. And right after you use the button to open the door the remotes work just fine but after some minutes the remotes fail to operate the door.

Check the batteries in the remotes or replace them. Make a diagram of the positions of the dip switches in the remotes so you can return them to their original positions and slide each switch back and forth 2-3 times. Sometimes the dip switches stop making a good contact. Moving them will renew the contacts. Do the same thing with the dip switches on the logic board on the opener.
If you still have the problem change the positions of the dip switches on the remotes and the logic board. They have to all be in the same position. Don't move the number 1 switch, this determines which button you use on the remotes.If the logic board has been replaced with a logic board that has a learn button on the back of the logic board, hold the learn switch in until the indicator light goes off. This will erase the codes from the logic board. Reprogram the remotes after moving the dip switches.Join this conversation.
