how do i finish oak. Do I need a sealer before I clear poly it? It is an indoor side of window
I am framing in a window with oak. I want it to have a clear satin finish. Do I have to use a sealer first

It's best to apply a coat of wood conditioner first. This will make any coats you put on top, whether they are stain or clear finish, go on more evenly and uniformly.
