I live in extremely hot weather. Avg. 105 to 115 during summer. I water often in the early morning or late evenings.
It's extremely difficult to diagnose the cause of brown/gray patches in lawns because so many things can cause them.
One factor may be that it's difficult for sod to take in very hot weather. It's best to lay sod when temperatures are cooler, as in late fall, winter (if you're in the southern third or so of the U.S.), or early spring. The grass may take care of itself and recover from the patches, if they're not large and extensive. Keep watering. Depending on what type of grass it is, in the spring, when it greens up again, if the patches are still a problem, I'd dig up the problem areas and lay new sod just in the problem areas.Member
