There may be a compatibility issue but it is difficult for us to confirm since the in-car system would have been designed and supplied by your van manufacturer and not Sears.

Having said that, most openers are now working in a 315 MHz range and many have advanced coding systems so there may be procedures or updates available to make the various systems work together.

Many Chrysler products use a version of the HomeLink system, and the Sources link below has more information that may help with that system or you may need to contact Chrysler themselves.

Either way, having the complete model number and information on hand from your opener will help speed the process and that number is typically on the Owner's Manual cover and on the overhead opener itself. For a Craftsman opener it will typically start with a 139 prefix.

You may have to clear the old code from your vehicle's system before you program it to the new opener. I have a vehicle with the Homelink system and they program it with a test code at the factory that had to be cleared prior to programing it to my garage door.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
