My replacement remote instructions say it will not work with my color programming button? New remote is the same part number as old, so can I use it?

Garage Door Opener 13953970srt red button remote 53879 replacement 53879. Original unit has a red logic button but the instructions with the replacement state it can only be used with green logic button? Should I return it or try to use it?

Sorry for any confusion.

All the SRT or Smart button openers program in the same manner regardless of what color that button is.

Where the button colors do become important is on the remote itself. Different colored buttons on the remotes can indicate different code styles and frequencies, so remotes with different colored buttons will typically not work together on the same opener.

If your two remotes have the same part number and color of buttons on them, then you should have no issues programming them unless one has a low battery or the opener memory is filled and need to be reset.

There is additional information in the links below to help explain further or help with resetting the memory. Some small details may vary since the information was for other models also, but the basic information and techniques will be the same as for your opener.

You can view the Owner's Manual for your opener model online to get more specific information.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
