I have some drywall tape that is loose underneath my porch roof. Is there a special compound to fix?

I am not sure if there is drywall on the ceiling or what but I do know that there is tape that has come loose. I would like to get it fixed so I can repaint the roof.

If it is a drywall ceiling, the tape will usually be a white colour, and there should be some white material smeared around the tape (this may be painted if the ceiling was painted). To repair, you can buy "drywall compound" - spread some compound underneath the tape, then flatten it out using a drywall knife. Then put a thin layer of compound on top of the tape. Once it dries, then you can lightly sand it smooth. You may need to apply a few thin layers of compounds and sand in between to achieve a smooth surface, after which point you can prime and paint.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
