I have keyless entry and I need to know how to reset the password from the previous owners. I have owned this home for 2 years and have not used it in two years. I tried putting in their password first to change it like the directions in the manual say to but it won't work. Please help!
The correct model number for the opener will be on the overhead opener unit itself, normally next to the light or any programming button. For a Craftsman opener it will start with a 139 prefix.
Once you have that number you can use it to find your Owner's Manual at Manage My Home or to find which keyless or other parts you can get at Sears PartsDirect if needed. For most newer-style Craftsman openers the technique in the link below should work. If the unit will not program, be sure the keyless and all your remotes have good batteries and then try again. If the issue is still there, try erasing the opener memory and reprogramming (you will need to reprogram all remotes and the keyless once the memory is erased).Any remaining programming issues at that point are an indication of a failing remote or keyless or possibly a logic board. Again, the links below and the troubleshooting in your manual should help further.Member
