What herbicide is safe for my raspberries but deadly on weeds and grass in the garden?
The only selective herbicide that will control broadleaved weeds and grass is a preemergent herbicide, such as Preen, which prevents the germination of seeds of weeds and grasses. It's best to apply now when seeds are germinating at the fastest rate. It won't kill existing grass and weeds.
You can use a non-selective weed killer such as Roundup or AllDown (which is organic) as long as you don't soak the raspberries wiht it.Another option is to hoe or pull out the weeds and then apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch to greatly suppress weeds around the raspberries and benefit the raspberries overall.Member
