My keyless entry stopped working, how do I erase its memory to get it going again?

Keyless entry, Craftsman 139.53684. How do I cancel the complete memory? It will not take any entry now but was working.

The memory for the code is not actually in the keyless entry itself but in the overhead opener unit.

Most times a keyless will stop working because the battery is low but sometime even after the battery is replaced it has lost its communication with the opener and does need to be re-programmed back into the system. Depending on how many program attempts you have you might need to erase the memory before you can get that done but be aware that erasing the memory on the overhead unit will mean all your other remotes will also need to be re-programmed.

The instructions for erasing the memory are in the owner’s manual for your opener itself so you can get it on Manage My Home using the model number off the overhead unit or any sales paperwork. You can also use the instructions in the links and images below.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
