This grass grows in patches. it comes up early in the season then starts to matt down. I have more patches this year them last, also it does not cut well. It looks like I have a bunch of Chia pets in the yard. Thanks
Without seeing the grass, it's hard to identify it and thus know how to control it. My first guess is that it is either crabgrass or annual bluegrass.
Both are annual grasses that grow from fresh seed each year. You can control the new sees each spring by applying a preemergent weed killer just as the grasses start to sprout (around now in the upper midwest). For an organic control, you can use corn gluten meal, which also fertilizes the lawn.Member
