I have sold my car it has a permanent transmitter fitted, I want to stop the new owner having access to my garage, I want to de-activate the security codes on my garage door opener so that I can program my new car to use it but not the car I have just sold?
There is no way to change the remote in the car you sold at this point, but on most Craftsman Openers you can reset your garage door opener memory. You will need to reprogram your own remotes, any keyless entry, and the remote in your current car. But since you are not reprogramming in the remote from the car you sold it will no longer be recognized by your opener and will no longer work to open your door.
The complete programming instructions will be in your owner’s manual but for most newer-style Craftsman openers with a Smart or Learn or SRT button the instructions in the image below will work to reset (erase) the memory and reprogram the remotes and any keyless entry. To view the Owner's Manual online go to the Home page of Manage My Home and hold your mouse over the square labeled HOME in the upper left of the page. A drop-down menu will appear, choose the option Products and manuals and then enter the model information and follow the steps.Member
