I have a Craftsman garage door opener that will only program one remote? How do I program 2 remotes?

Model number 139.53674SRT2. I have a keypad and a button opener it will only recognize one. How do I fix this? It was working fine for several years now it has de-programmed itself.

Since the opener worked fine with the same remote and keypad in the past then you probably have a failed battery in one or a failing remote or keypad.

Confirm you have a strong battery in each as that is the most common problem. Once all the batteries are good erase, or reset, the memory on the opener and reprogram all the remotes and keypad. You can erase or rest the memory using the information in the Sources link below or in your manual.

If the opener will still accept only one then either the remote or keypad has failed. You will need to find out which one is bad. That can be difficult as a failing transmitter might still program but will then make it hard for the system to program other transmitters in, so the one that is bad might still program and work the door. The other Sources link below has some helpful hints for tracking down the bad on.

I also included a Sources link regarding changing the batteries.

Your manual will have more details and you can get the manual online if you go to the Home page of Manage My Home and hold your mouse over the square labeled HOME in the upper left of the page. A drop-down menu will appear, choose the option Products and manuals and then enter the model information and follow the steps.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
