How do I get rid of grass that is growing in my rug juniper bed?

The grass is intertwined with the juniper, and is nearly impossible to pull out?

The most effective way is plain old hand weeding. Time consuming, but hard to beat. After weeding, if you haven't already, it's smart to spread 1 to 3 inches of wood bark or other mulch to prevent weeds from coming back.

If you choose to use a chemical, consider one of the weed killers made specifically to kill grasses in beds and borders. Used properly, it will not hurt the flowers, shrubs, or groundcovers. Brand names include Grass-Be-Gone. Over the Top, Poast, Vantage, and Fusilade. Follow package directions exactly. It takes 1 to 3 weeks to kill grass completely. It wil turn it yellow and die. You may then want to then pull out the dead grass for appearance's sake.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
