How do I change the access code on my garage door opener?

I just purchased a home with a Craftsman garage door opener it has a Keypad and I need to know how to reprogram the code in it? It has 315 on the front of the Keypad and the remotes.

The 315 indicates your model opener uses one of the newer frequency codes so it should already be an SRT-style model. That means it will have an SRT or Learn button on the overhead unit that you can use to program.

To change your Keyless Entry PIN code on an SRT opener do the following

1. Press and release the "SRT" Learn Button on your Garage Door Motor unit. (Don’t hold it too long or it will erase all memory and your remotes will need reprogramming).

2. The Learn Indicator light will come on. Within 30 Seconds, enter your new four-digit PIN code then press and hold the ENTER button.

3. Release the button once the Garage Door Light flashes. If you have no bulb in the unit then listen for two clicks.

The code should be changed. Test by entering your new code and hitting ENTER and if the code is good the door will move.

Programming instructions might also be on the unit or under the keypad cover and will be covered in more detail in the owner’s manual.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
