What is the ideal time of year to seed the lawn?
You can seed a lawn in spring after the soil has warmed to at least 65 degrees F, or in early fall when the nights start cooling off.
In either case, the keys to success are to use fresh seed that has a high guaranteed germination rate (check the label); to ensure good contact between the seed and the soil (using a roller that weighs about 200 lbs helps); and to keep the soil moist to a depth of about 1-2 inches (that usually requires sprinkling wiht water two or three times a day and loosely scattering straw over the seeded area).Member
