We have a 2 car garage that has a wooden door - it's basically 'water logged'. We've never bought a garage door. Can you recommend a brand or construction type? The local dealer mentioned that the wood doors are typically made of cheap wood 'these days'.
There are a number of good brands out there and a wide variety of styles so it really comes down to your personal preference.
The better wooden doors should be weather treated and most have some form of warranty and if you stay with one of those some of your current springing and lifting hardware may adapt over. Having said that, we recommend a professional do any work with the springs and set the balance of any replacement door so it is often a good idea to update that hardware anyway. There are several articles on Manage My Home, and links to related sites, that deal with the basics of garage doors and may help further with your decision.Member
