How do I prevent ice buildup on the walkway below my eaves?

I just received very helpful information regarding overflow of rain from my roof. How about snow buildup? Can I do anything about that? The one downspout is a long way away from this area and ice builds up on walkway below.

If you have ice accumulating in your eavestroughs (gutters), and water dripping on the walkway below, you have an ice damming problem, which is quite typical in a valley of a roof, particularly if there is a covered porch which creates a large overhang. To deal with the ice damming, see below.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
