Why do I have low water pressure from the outside tap?

Why do I have low water pressure from the outside tap? All other household taps are fine.

There are several possible causes:

  • The most likely is a partially closed interior shutoff valve.

  • A defective backflow preventer, if one exists.
  • An obstruction, such as a small stone or bead of solder, caught in the exterior faucet or the interior shutoff valve.
  • A mechanically damaged valve or crimped pipe due to the outdoor faucet being struck by something.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
