How do you remove the head on a weed whacker?

How do you remove the head on a weed whacker, model 358.791590? I bought a Hassle - Free head III but I don't know how to get the old head off to put the new one on.

On that model, the knob screws off the gearbox shaft to remove the head but it is a left-hand thread (the reverse of normal) to prevent the torque of the spinning gearbox shaft loosening it off during use.

If you check the Driveshaft/Shield/Handle exploded-view diagram on the Sears Parts site you will see how the assembly fits together. The knob that needs to be removed is shown as reference key number 33. You can get to the Parts site using the model number and the instructions in the links below and there is additional information in your owner's manual that will also help.

Again, it is a reverse, or left-hand, thread so you will need to spin the knob the opposite way from normal to remove it.

Great that is a good thing to have in the manual, but sadly it appears that this little item was left of out of every manual, how can that happen? Please for gods sake put this in a manual if not in print at least in a PDF, outsourcing is the latest thing for every corporate minded entity however, some proof reading might be in order.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
